Your Bucket List

Have you seen that movie, The Bucket List?

the-bucket-list-wideIt’s fun and inspiring… all about the amazing transformation and joy that happens when you start living in alignment with your values and vision… and start stretching!

Do you have a Bucket List?

Up until just a few years ago I didn’t have one. In fact I wouldn’t have even let myself imagine that it was “OK” to have a list of things that I wanted to do and experience!

My internal blocks and doubts and fears and self judgments would have gotten in the way of creating such a “selfish” list!

As you can imagine… my life back then was pretty dismal. I was stuck in the cycle of scarcity and self-judgment and lack… unable and unwilling to love myself enough to even dream about the things that would bring me happiness, fulfillment, joy and a sense of purpose… let alone go out and experience them!

Fast forward to the end of 2010 when I had a major breakthrough moment.

Some good friends invited me to join them for a retreat in Hawaii to swim with the wild Spinner Dolphins. My first response was, of course, “Are you kidding? There’s no way I can do that!

You see, I was still recovering from 2009 – which was pretty much the lowest point in my life – going through separation, bankruptcy and spending the last few months of the year almost homeless!

And even though things had turned around for me pretty fast in 2010, saying yes to a $3500 retreat when I was still getting caught up was NOT an easy decision!

In fact it felt like a pretty massive stretch for me financially… If you want to know the truth it scared the pants off me (which I guess was ok because I would have a bathing suit on once I got to the Big Island!)

But through that fear some part of me knew that I was meant to be there. I could feel that there was deep healing and transformation waiting for me on the Big Island.

It was clear that what I would experience, learn and bring back with me from the Big Island would have a positive impact on me for the rest of my life!

And when I look back at the trip I can see that it has!

Saying yes to that trip was one of the first times I allowed myself to do something that I really wanted… something that was just for me… something that would support the healing and evolution of my body, mind, soul and spirit… something that would be fun AND transformational!

Saying yes to that big stretch opened the door for me to dream bigger and open to more of the possibilities, potentials, blessings and abundance of this brilliant life.

In fact, when I got into the big beautiful blue ocean with those Dolphins the first time… I realized that swimming with them in their natural, wild habitat had been a dream of mine for a LONG time…

If I had given myself permission to create my “Bucket List” back then swimming with those Dolphins definitely would have been on it!

Since then, I’ve been back to the Big Island every year to swim with the Dolphins and learn more and more from these Master Healers… and I’ve checked off a whole bunch of new Bucket List items:

The Abundant Mystic whale-breach-2014I’ve taken a picture of a baby Humpback Whale breaching about 200 yards behind my friend as we snorkeled in Kealakekua Bay…

I’ve witnessed the glow from the world’s most active volcano and connected with the awesome, fiery power of Pele…

I’ve meditated in a pristine private Lava Cave completely cut off from all of the manmade electromagnetic frequencies that mess with our systems…

The Abundant Mystic Big Island Retreat green-sea-turtleI’ve “bathed” in a sacred Queen’s Bath – a spring fed fresh water pond inside a Lava Tube overlooking the ocean…

I’ve stood at the edge of the ocean with dozens of Green Sea Turtles all around me…

I’ve been “initiated” by the Big Island Elements and gifted with a healing and transformational modality that has helped hundreds of people heal and grow and evolve…

And with each of these “check marks” I’ve learned more about myself… I’ve opened more fully to the truth of who I am… I’ve embraced more of the goodness of life… I’ve said yes to more and more of the abundance that is my birthright!

So let me ask you this… What’s on YOUR Bucket List?

Have you given yourself permission to dream big, to have bold visions, to say YES to things that support, nurture and transform YOU?

Have you been willing to stretch into the things that scares you?

Have you answered yes to a deep calling even when your mind has been urging you (loudly) to say no?

Your Growth Starts at the edge of your comfort zoneYour growth begins at the edge of your comfort zone.

If you are not saying yes to things that stretch you on a regular basis… you’re either going to stop growing (and I think you probably know what the opposite of growing is!)

Or, life is going to “push” you into those stretching experiences… and I’ve learned – the hard way – that when life has to “push” you… it’s a lot less fun and graceful than when you volunteer!

Pretty sure you know what I mean! 😉

So how about creating a Bucket List and starting to make plans to check some of those items off ?

And who knows…

Maybe swimming with the wild Spinner Dolphins is on YOUR Bucket List… or would be if you had one…

Maybe communing with the power of Pele and the Volcano is just what you need to awaken your own inner fire and passion and focus!

Maybe hearing the songs of the Humpback Whales will open you to the Ancient Memories you are meant to share with the world

Maybe experiencing yourself in the “womb” of Gaia will heal the wounds of abandonment that have held you back

Maybe our Big Island Awakening Retreat is just the stretch you need to open to the bigger possibilities seeking to be birthed through you.

If you’re feeling the call of the Big Island… and the stretch… we’ve got just 4 spaces left in our 2016 retreat!

You can find out more about it here.

And go ahead and share one or two of the top things on YOUR Bucket List in the comments below. I’d love to hear the ways you’re going to stretch and say yes to more goodness in your life!

I did two of my bucket list. I always wanted to see the Panama Canal, and a river cruise. Last February, I broke my knee cap from a fall. In the spring,, I read a book, Fly while you have wings. That inspired me, since I could now walk, to visit my daughter who lived in Portugal over 2 years and I figure out, how to work in a cruise. I am 82, so I need to get the list done. Australia is another one , I just have to be able to do all that air travel.
